The Early Childhood Research & Practice (ECRP) website is the first open-access, peer-reviewed, bilingual Internet journal in for early childhood educators. ECRP is published by the Clearinghouse on Early Education and Parenting (CEEP) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Two prominent leaders in early childhood education, Dr. Lilian G. Katz and Dr. Jean Mendoza, are the editors of the journal (1999). The journal is published bi-annually, with archives dating to Spring 1999. Some of the topics presented in the journal are professional development for directors and educators, implementation of curriculum, developmental needs of young children, the importance of play, and many others.

I find the articles presented in the journal inspiring and mindful of best practices for young children. While the emphasis is mainly professional, the data and information can be used to create informational handouts for families and volunteers. I use the information for teacher and parent training seminars, as well as handouts and newsletter articles. Because the journal is edited by highly reputable professionals in early childhood education, I trust the content to be up-to-date, accurate, and highly professional.
